Switzerland: Montreux Jazz Festival |
Location: Montreux, Switzerland
The event’s best bits:
The Montreux Jazz Festival certainly comes with quite a bit of interesting history too. With its routes back in the mid 1960’s, the festival has certainly played witness to a few extraordinary musical eras and to this day embodies more than a few elements of great music. From new talent to old talent, the festival is well respected by musicians of all levels, who all show their support year in year out. And for you that means great talent all around and one amazing musical bonanza to remember.
Well when we say crowd, we really mean one massive gathering. Over 15 days the festival sees close to 200,000 people visit to enjoy the happenings. And with such a large number of people flowing through you get visitors from all walks of life. But on the whole the individuals that make it to the Montreux Jazz Festival could be described as sophisticated cool with a brilliant ear for music and the ability for endless soulful conversations.
Montreux, a small, visually stunning city set on the eastern edge of Lake Geneva certainly brings another amazing dimension to the Montreux Jazz Festival. The town is utilised to the fullest with various events taking place in all sorts of spaces during the 15 days of the festival. But our favourite thing of all about this great location is the picturesque views and serene atmosphere you can enjoy when the lake and mountains are set alive with the great sound of quality music.
