Keeping in line with the spirit of Interrail, train travel is positively interesting in Denmark, you can just hop on and off most of the local and regional trains.
But to give you peace of mind, we recommend that you make sure you understand everything there is to know about seat reservations and supplements on trains in the Denmark before you travel.
Reservations are required for
We would recommend reservations if you are intending to use any of the following trains in Denmark:

International Trains: Reservations are recommended on the InterCityExpress (ICE) for travel to & from Germany.

Dometsic Trains: Reservations are recommended for travel on the InterCity (IC); Eurocity (EC) and InterCityLyn (ICL).

High-Speed Trains: Reservations are required for travel on the SJ High Speed train to Stockholm
Reservations are not required for
The following trains in Denmark do not need you to make a reservation:
- InterRegional (IR)
- RØ, RV and ØR: These are regional trains which do not require reservations
- S-tog: These commuter trains do not require any prior reservations to be made
