Keeping in line with the spirit of Interrail, train travel in Hungary is a perfect adventure!

But to give you piece of mind, we recommend that you make sure you understand everything there is to know about seat reservations and supplements on trains in Hungary before you travel.

Reservations are required for:

We would recommend reservations, if you are intending to use any of the following trains in Hungary:

Night Trains: Reservations are required on the EuroNight (EC) night trains.
InterCity (IC): Reservations are required for these domestic travel trains.
InterPici (IP): reservations are required on these trains that complement intercity services
Express (ExP): Reservations are required for these trains

Reservations are not required for:

The following trains in Hungary do not need you to make a reservation:

Railjet (RJ): Reservations are possible on these international high speed trains but are not required.
EuroCity (EC): Reservations are possible on these domestic travel trains but are not required
Fast Trains & Passenger trains (regional or interregional): Reservations are not required on these trains.
